While sewing, purse embellishments is done to add design and interest to the plain purse.
Few techniques of embellishment that can be done in sewing and crafts are:
Applique. A needle work technique in which small pieces of fabric, embroidery or other materials are stitched on the original piece to make designs. Usually, suitable for work which is to be seen from a long distance. Is used chiefly in quilting.
Embroidery, done either by machine or by hand. Art of decorating fabric with designs stitched in strands of thread using a needle. Sometimes, also uses other materials as metal strips, pearls, beads, quills and sequins. This can be done by sewing machines or by hand.
Piping. Made up of a fabric tube around the edge of ready fabric having a cord. It may be made from either self-fabric or contrast fabric.
Lace. Fabric made with open holes, by either machine or hand. The holes are made by taking out threads or cloth from a previously woven fabric. Usually made from threads of linen, silk, gold, or silver, but now is also made from cotton thread, synthetic fiber or fine copper or silver wire.
Fringe. Ornamentation done at the edges of a purse. It starts from the ends of the warp, and projects beyond the woven. This is usually done separately and sewn on, the original by threads of wool, silk, linen, or leather.
Beads. A small object that is used for threading. Tit ranges in different sizes from millimeters to centimeters in diameter. The common materials used in making beads are glass, plastic, and stone, but they can also be made from bone, metal, shell, pearl, coral, gemstones, resin, ceramic and fiber.

Buttons can be tucked anywhere,
Zippers can be used as piping, or simply sewed on,
Buckles can be attached at any place,
Grommets can be utilized even when there is no cord looped through,
Sequins can be applied anywhere.
